Plant RNA Extraction Systems

Plant RNA extraction is often complicated by polysaccharides, polyphenols and active RNases that affect RNA integrity and downstream analysis. Effective workflows require both rapid RNase inactivation and controlled removal of inhibitory compounds.

Magen plant RNA extraction systems integrate column and magnetic bead workflows to support different plant sample types and experimental requirements.

For complex or variable plant samples, including tissues rich in polyphenols and polysaccharides, optimized guanidine-based lysis combined with antioxidant protection improves RNA stability and inhibitor control. A representative system is the HiPure Plant RNA Plus Kit (R4150), which uses dual-column purification to improve RNA quality for transcriptomic applications.

For difficult or inhibitor-rich samples where standard methods result in low yield or purity, CTAB-based workflows are applied to enhance impurity removal. The HiPure HP Plant RNA Mini Kit (R4165) represents this approach, combining CTAB lysis, organic extraction and DNase digestion for improved RNA purity.

For routine plant tissues, simplified guanidine-based workflows enable efficient RNA purification for RT-PCR and gene expression analysis.

Magnetic bead–based systems extend plant RNA extraction into automated and high-throughput workflows with consistent recovery across samples.

For fruit or starch-rich tissues, phenol-based workflows remain effective for challenging sample matrices.

Laboratories can select appropriate workflows based on sample composition, throughput and downstream application requirements.
