DNA and RNA Co-Isolation Systems

Co-isolation of DNA and RNA enables simultaneous analysis of genomic and transcriptomic information from a single sample, reducing sample consumption and improving workflow efficiency. This approach is particularly valuable in applications where sample input is limited or where direct comparison between DNA and RNA is required.

In nucleic acid extraction workflows, different co-isolation strategies are applied depending on sample type and downstream requirements. Some systems separate DNA and RNA during early lysis steps to preserve RNA integrity, while others rely on sequential binding and elution processes to maximize total nucleic acid recovery. These differences influence RNA quality, DNA yield and overall workflow flexibility.

Magen co-isolation systems are designed to support both column-based and magnetic bead–based workflows across a range of sample types including FFPE tissues, environmental samples, fibrous tissues and standard biological materials. By integrating optimized lysis chemistry and purification strategies, these systems enable reliable recovery of DNA and RNA for downstream applications such as sequencing, PCR and transcriptomic analysis.
