Introduction
Acid-Washed glass beads are specifically designed for grinding and lysing bacteria and eukaryotic cell, with a diameter of 0.1-0.6mm (30-100 mesh). When glass beads are added to the solution with high-speed vortexing or oscillation , the bacterial cell wall can be efficiently removed. This method is also called bead grinding. Acid-washed refers to soaking glass beads in high concentrations of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid to remove residual metals and metal oxides, in order to prevent these substances from affecting the quality of nucleic acid.
Usage
In a 2ml centrifuge tube, add 300-500μl homogenate and 200-300mg acid-washed glass beads (0.1-0.6mm), vortex at maximum speed for 5-10 minutes.
